A visitor, athlete, boater or resident submits a photo and observation time. An exact position is optional and always kept private.
Meet the proposed digital trust layer behind Legends for Turtles: privacy-safe observation records, accountable community impact, and a permanent way to check whether evidence has changed.
Conservation initiative in development. VIX on-chain anchoring is not yet a live public service.Community Turtle Watch, sighting intake, internal evidence commitments, and receipt status display.
Scientific review, permitted data sharing, and community partners for any research-grade outcomes.
VIX mainnet confirmations, verified impact attestations, and partner-approved youth credentials.
A satellite transmitter follows a tagged turtle. An observation app lets people submit sightings. A blockchain can preserve a tamper-evident proof that a particular digital record existed at a certain time — with later changes documented rather than silently overwritten. These tools serve different purposes.
A visitor, athlete, boater or resident submits a photo and observation time. An exact position is optional and always kept private.
Authorized reviewers distinguish submissions from verified observations. Scientific claims require qualified experts and agreed validation protocols.
Photos, names, contacts and exact GPS remain in restricted systems. The system derives a cryptographic commitment to detect alterations.
When the VIX network and gateway are operational, a minimal proof can be included in a confirmed blockchain transaction.
Original submissions, later review decisions and corrections can have separate records, allowing an auditable sequence without rewriting history.
With supporting evidence and partner approval, verified cleanups, educational sessions and other outcomes can be reported transparently to supporters.
What a public receipt may eventually show: a reference number, the type and time of the record, an evidence commitment, and an independently confirmed transaction or block number. Sensitive information is excluded.
Visit public receipt checker ↗Sample layout, not a real observation or transaction. A cryptographic match does not confirm the accuracy of the wildlife sighting.
Time-stamped contributions can help partners evaluate patterns once review quality and permissions are in place. No public precise turtle maps.
Proposed school programs combine turtle biology, seagrass, boating safety and digital literacy. Optional digital participation credentials would follow approved check-ins.
Log supervised shoreline cleanups, kilograms of collected debris, responsible disposal and evidence-based event participation, subject to review.
Publish activity summaries that connect funded projects to evidence, without inflating turtle recoveries or counting planned activities as completed outcomes.
Bermuda already has pioneering sea-turtle research through the Bermuda Turtle Project, Bermuda Zoological Society and Sea Turtle Conservancy. FLT's proposed digital layer does not replace or claim ownership of their tracking, tagging or scientific work.
We invite recognized conservation organizations to shape data standards, consent, habitat protections and independent review. Mentioning these organizations is not a claim of endorsement or partnership.
The Turtle Watch platform has local evidence commitments and a status-aware public receipt checker. Confirmed public VIX anchoring is pending verified gateway operation and network confirmation. View the live status panel for current counts rather than treating a local receipt as an on-chain transaction.
No. It can prove that a particular digital record was committed and can help detect later changes. A photo can be misidentified, duplicated or inaccurately located. Human and scientific review remain necessary.
No exact sighting GPS, nesting sites, private photos or reporter contact information should be published on-chain. Any public summaries must be generalized and subject to conservation safeguards.
We do not claim worldwide exclusivity. Other conservation organizations have used cryptocurrency, NFTs or blockchain for marine and turtle-related efforts. FLT's distinction is its proposed integration of a Bermuda sports event, public observations, expert review, youth activities and VIX evidence records into one community initiative.
No. Satellite telemetry and field science measure animal movements. FLT can link to the researchers' original maps with permission or appropriate attribution; VIX is intended for evidence integrity and participation reporting, not live GPS telemetry.
No. Sighting submissions and community participation do not require cryptocurrency or a wallet. Any future digital recognition is optional and subject to technical, safety and program approval.
